1st SEMS Summer School
Throughout the Summer School,
the knowledge generated by the project and the experiences made within
the SEMS communities have been disseminated to stakeholders working in
the field of sustainable energy management in communities.
Both experts and international students
listened to the lectures given on
sustainable energy management systems |
|
The Summer School started with presentations about the basis of
Decentralised Energy Management Systems (DEMS) and energy and material
flow management (MFM). The second day focussed on processes towards
sustainability in communities. As examples, the status of activities in
three SEMS CONCERTO communities has been presented.
Prof. Dr. Klaus Helling (IfaS, Birkenfeld) and
Oliver O'Nagy (CRP Henri Tudor, Luxembourg)
discuss energy and material flow management. |

Following the presentations, the participants of the Summer School
visited the Morbach energy landscape, thus getting an insight view on
what could be done regarding the use of renewable energy sources in a
community. With a session focussing on biofuels in regions the 1st
Summer School finished. After a general survey of various biofuels,
their chances for regions but also possible restrictions have been
intensely discussed. Besides the lectures, the Summer School offered
the chance to discuss and to exchange opinions among the participants.
